HISTORY AND TRADITION
In 1916, an enterprising gentleman by the name of Emile Hilker opened an upscale dry cleaning, fur cleaning and storage business on Fayetteville Street in Downtown Raleigh. As the business grew, now a third generation is at the helm. Today it remains a true, small family business that continues to provide unmatched quality, traditional dry cleaning and hand-finished, specialty garment care services. Hilker's Fabric & Couture Care, is committed to the highest level of service, education, and expertise it has always maintained in a growing, thriving community.
Today over ninety years later the number of retail store fronts and plants continues to increase. Although mostly located within the city, we now serve the suburbs and entire Triangle area by offering free convenient valet pick-up and delivery service, with the same over-the-counter prices, for the busy lifestyles of our customers. Hilker's operates a fleet of vans to serve both homes and professional business offices throughout the Triangle area.
Hilker's leverages its long-term dedicated staff and hands-on family approach to its success, by offering personal attention to each customer's individual preferences and each garment received in our care. It is still well known as the drycleaner with exceptional quality, focus on detail, and a full guarantee.
As a diversified company we provide the traditional cleaning services such as dry cleaning, laundry, rug and comforter cleaning as well as specialty hand-finished services such as fine Italian linen care, designer and couture garment care, wedding gown cleaning, and fire and flood restoration across the entire State of North Carolina. We accept mail-in garments for the Specialty Services.
We are very proud to be an official cleaner offering Green Earth* for 100% environmentally safe and 100% allergy free cleaning options. The company has grown although adhering to basic principles established by its forefathers... quality, integrity and service. The company is owned and operated by Jim Hilker, and is managed daily by its officers. It offers stable jobs to the people in our communities, including a base of after-school teenagers.
Hilkers has given back to the community through various non-profit organizations such as Coats for Kids, Frankie Lemmon Foundation, ongoing support among School Projects within Wake County, and by investing over $100k in the conversion to Environmental Sustaining Processes. Our newest Sponsorship will partner us with 1in9.com, a local non-profit organization that provides financial and resource support to women across NC who are in need of surgery, radiation or chemotherapy treatment for Breast Cancer, that may otherwise choose not to receive treatment. This wonderful partnership will allow us to continue to give back to the community and aide women who otherwise may not seek medical attention due to financial limitations.
